Why “zerbit?”
Back in the day, on a little television program called the Cosby Show, a dad showed his youngest daughter affection by putting his lips on her face and blowing, creating a loud raspberry sound. The sound was given the onomatopoeia “zerbit.” My dad, taking after the Cosby show, used to zerbit me all the time when I was a kid, hence the name.
