Someone please tell me: what’s wrong with socialism?
I’m not a political creature by any means. I didn’t start watching religiously watching the news until two years ago, never took any politics courses in school, although I wish I had — so I honestly don’t get why people are so vehemently — violently — opposed to “socialist” programs. We’re already partly socialist, anyway, right? What with taxes, welfare, and Medicare. We’ve all attended a potluck, and that’s pretty socialist, if you think about it.
And it seems to me that we could do with a little more helping-out-your-fellow-man sentiment these days. Is it that people are afraid that socialism is going to make them feel less special? Take away all their monies? Which is ironic, considering most of the people who’re accusing the Obama administration of socialism aren’t the wealthiest among us.
So please, someone let me know, educate me, what’s so bad about socialism? And when you do, please don’t go all wing-nut on me, because extremism isn’t convincing.
