Sergio Mendes, “Magalenha”
Have I ever mentioned my love of Brazilian music, especially the samba? It’s an obsession that started almost two years ago, when I took a class on Brazilian music and globalization. It was a very demanding class — journals every week, which were like writing papers, four shorter papers, and a final paper — but the music was (is) great. At one point, the professor made us get out into the city to attend an event having to do with what we were studying (and write about it) and as I knew I’d be hopeless at capoeira and didn’t really want to learn drumming, I decided on samba. That and because my ego took a hit when I couldn’t get the steps down when I tried to do it at some NYU function. The one samba class turned into three and I was officially hooked.
I need to get my butt to a samba class or a samba night ASAP.

MUD has the best coffee ever. Better than Think (barely, though), better than Oren’s. Yeah, I said it.

Cheap and abundant drinks: makes perfect sense to me.
I underage drank once at the BBQs on 8th and University Place (which was mysteriously not affiliated with any of the other BBQs in the city) with some folks from one of my English classes sophomore year, including the impossibly hot, impossibly unavailable (he was engaged) TA. I had some kind of shitty daquiri, he had a Stella. As Stella is shitty beer, we probably wouldn’t’ve worked out as a couple anyway.
Speaking of that TA, he once acted out the pale boy scene from Great Expectations. The memory of him headbutting the air still brings me tears of laughter. God, that guy was awesome. I wonder if he’s on facebook.

-
Good falafel

- My life

Our Metro is climate controlled and has escalators. Boom bitches.
T minus 15 seconds to someone not realizing this a just a joke.
Sort of.

But DC’s doesn’t run 24-7 so point to New York.
